Misery

People will dislike you, because of how others feel about you

As a result of their jealousness and insecurities, they’ll spread lies and call it the truth

Your attitude is off putting, your talk is annoying and your clothes have no appeal

Yet everyone loves you, because of your authenticity and the fact that you are so real

They’ll throw dirt on your name and demean your character, in hopes of turning people away

But they can’t erase your skills and abilities, so they can cease with the slander and hate

It doesn’t matter what actions they take, to try and diminish you

At the end of the day, people are miserable, because they hate the fact that they’re NOT you

Until next time my NOTE takers!

Following David’s footsteps

Fear and failure are two of the most debilitating feelings one can experience. They are very powerful and have the ability to change the course of one’s life, not to mention, damage it. Categorically, they’re tsunami’s, towers, and mountains that pose a threat to the quality of your life and predictive indicators of the outcome. They’re almost impossible to avoid, and once you encounter them, you only have two options: either give in or put a fight.

I’d like to talk to you about a young courageous boy named David, and his ability to defeat one of the biggest giants he’d ever faced. David was small and paled in comparison to Goliath, but he didn’t allow his size to intimidate him. Instead, he stood up to Goliath and challenged him to fight. Because of David’s faith in God and his willingness to not become a victim to fear, he was able to slay Goliath. He was a hero, to say the least, because he did what others were afraid to do, fight!

Like David, we’ve all encountered a giant or two in our lives. For some, it’s people, but for most, hardships, struggles, trials and tribulations, is their Goliath. Although all of these things can debilitate you, they don’t have to. You too can do as David did! All you’ve got to do is put on your armor and prepare to battle. God will win the war for you; all you have to do is show up!

When was the last time you “put up a fight”? Are you facing any “giants” and don’t know whether you’ll be able to slay them or them slay you? You may not have weapons of mass destruction, but all David had was a sling, rock and faith, and the greatest of these is faith. What do you have? Better yet, what do you have to lose, other than feelings of defeat? You’re a fighter and bigger than what you’re up against. Once you realize your strength, nothing will be impossible for you to handle.

Greed

Two weeks ago, I was blessed with an opportunity of a lifetime, well, at least in my lifetime! I spoke to close to 400 students, faculty and staff, at one of the high schools in North, AL. Upon my arrival, I didn’t really know how many students I was going to speak to, because the number fluctuated between 300-350. I was very nervous to say the least, but with God’s grace, I knew I would get through it. When I met the Principal, he informed me that I was originally to scheduled to speak in the auditorium, but due to me speaking to the ENTIRE high school, they could only accommodate me in the gymnasium.

Talk about insanity! I was thrilled, ecstatic and had feelings of apprehension, all at once. Doubt started to set in, but I knew this is what I was called to do, so I closed my ears to defeat and eyes to fear. I was in my element, and the words flowed like milk and honey. Granted after it was over, I felt as though I didn’t really give my best, because every time I surveyed the audience of 300 (plus), I couldn’t help but wonder if I touched them or bored them? However, based upon the praise, compliments and positive feedback, it’s safe to say they “felt” what I said.

At the end of the day, I was on an absolute high, and there was no way I was coming down anytime soon. I became greedy, and wanted more….so much more, and whatever I set my mind to do, I don’t stop until I conqueror it. Many of you know, that I am a Motivational Speaker, and I get paid great money to speak with high school students, but none of you know that I am in the early phases of working to become a Certified Life Coach. I told you I was greedy! I know without a doubt that God has blessed me with a wonderful gift! I love what I do, and how my story makes them feel is much more rewarding than the pay.

I’ve shared this before, and I’ll share this again, the stars are still there…..all you’ve got to do is reach for them! It doesn’t matter how old you are or how long you’ve waited to achieve your goals. All that matters is that you put your best foot forward, apply lots of effort, quite a bit of sweat and plenty of tears, and you’ll be where you want to be. However, you’ve got to be okay with knowing that success rarely comes on the first attempt, so keep working until you reach it!

Until next time my NOTE takers!

The Emergence (You’ve been planted) Pt. IV

It’s exposure time! You’ve been planted, watered and nurtured, now it’s time for you to rise and start the process of becoming exactly what you were created to do….BLOSSOM! You’re in God’s garden, planted amongst some of His finest creations! Everyone is looking at you and admiring your beauty, because they’ve never seen anything like you before. You’re unique, radiant, beautiful to say the least, and you possess something no other flower has.

Sure, we’re all created in the likeness of His image, but your image is different. In fact, it’s so different, the rest of the flowers (people) are asking why their seed wasn’t as powerful as yours. Comparison and jealousy at its finest! However, because no two flowers are alike, they won’t ever look the same as you, let alone compete with your strength and ability to shine. There was a reason you were buried…..There was a reason you were hidden….There was a reason you had to go through this lengthy, yet necessary process. There was a reason for it ALL! He knew your worth, but I don’t think you did. Therefore, He had to give you time to make sure you grew into what He created you to be.

A lot of times we try to rush God, because we feel as though He’s taking too long to get us to where we want to be, when essentially, it’s not where He wants us to be. We adopt the “I’ll take it from here attitude”, and do what we feel is best for us, knowing very well, without Him, we’d get nowhere. As a result of our stubbornness, we become stagnant and then wonder why we’re stuck and can’t go any further. Because of His omniscience, He places us in a position of uncomfortableness, which leaves us with no choice but to trust Him. Keep following Him, and you’ll be amazed at your evolution!

Now that you’ve endured the darkness, grew in the midst of what seemed to be an unbearable and uncomfortable situation, you have arisen and are well on your way out. We see you, and what a beautiful site to see!

Until next my NOTE takers!
