THE CHASE

YOU ARE ABOUT TO TAKE THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE! IN FACT, IT’S PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ONES YOU’VE EVER TAKEN. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU’VE ALWAYS “DREAMED” OF, AND THE THOUGHT OF IT BECOMING A REALITY, IS MORE THAN YOU CAN STAND. AS YOU PREPARE TO EMBARK UPON THIS JOURNEY, YOU WILL ENCOUNTER SOME ROADBLOCKS AND TEMPORARY DELAYS, BUT NOTHING YOU CAN’T GO AROUND. YOU WILL EXPERIENCE SOME CROOKED PATHS AND ROUGH PLANES, SO DON’T THINK EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE PERFECTLY “STRAIGHT”.

TEMPORARY DELAYS

YOU ARE HOT ON THE HEELS OF “CATCHING UP” WITH YOUR DREAMS, BUT YOU’RE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS. BECAUSE OF BLIND SPOTS, THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE AND THINGS YOU CAN’T SEE, THAT COULD “CRASH” DIRECTLY INTO YOUR DREAMS. WITHIN THE BLINK OF AN EYE, YOU WENT FROM BEING WELL ON YOUR WAY, TO SUDDENLY A TEMPORARY DELAY. ALTHOUGH YOU’RE AT A STANDSTILL, EVENTUALLY, THINGS WILL LET UP AND YOU WILL GET GOING AGAIN.

ROADBLOCKS

AS THE TRAFFIC AND DISTRACTIONS CLEAR, YOU CONTINUE IN YOUR PURSUITS. TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING, YOU SPEED UP, BECAUSE YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO LET YOUR DREAMS “GET-A-WAY”. YOU WILL HAVE TO DRIVE UP SOME STEEP HILLS (TRIALS) AND GO DOWN SOME DANGEROUS PATHS (TRIBULATIONS), BUT YOU DO WHAT’S NECESSARY, BECAUSE OBTAINING YOUR DREAMS IS WORTH IT. THAT IS, UNTIL YOU ENCOUNTER A FEW ROADBLOCKS (OBSTACLES). DESPITE THINGS CONSTANTLY “GETTING IN YOUR WAY”, YOU CONTINUE THE CHASE, BECAUSE YOU’RE ALMOST WHERE YOU WANT TO BE.

REAR VIEW BANDITS

YOU’VE COME SO FAR IN YOUR PURSUITS, BUT SOMEONE ELSE HAS TOO. IN FACT, THEY HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOU THE ENTIRE TIME. WHILE YOU WERE SO BUSY FOCUSING AND LOOKING AHEAD, YOU DIDN’T NOTICE THEM IN YOUR “REAR VIEW”. YOU’RE CHASING AFTER YOUR DREAMS, AND THEY’RE CHASING AFTER YOU, SO THEY CAN CAUSE A COLLISION AND THROW YOU OFF COURSE. STOPPING AT NOTHING TO GET YOUR ATTENTION, THEY FLASH THEIR LIGHTS (SHIELD YOU FROM YOUR GOALS) AND HONK THEIR HORNS (CAUSE A MAJOR SCENE), BECAUSE THEY KNOW IF YOU TAKE YOUR EYES OFF YOUR DREAMS FOR ONE MINUTE, THEY’LL HAVE YOU WHERE THEY WANT YOU; “DISTRACTED”.

PERFECT GET-A-WAY

HOWEVER, BECAUSE YOU HAVE ENCOUNTERED A FEW TEMPORARY DELAYS AND ROADBLOCKS, YOU DON’T LET WHAT’S BEHIND YOU, TO TAKE YOUR MIND OFF OF WHAT’S IN FRONT OF YOU. THE MORE YOU CONTINUE TO DRIVE (EXCEL), THE MORE FURIOUS (JEALOUS) THEY BECOME, BUT YOU’VE GOT TO KEEP ON MOVING FORWARD. YOU MIGHT GET REAR-ENDED, WHICH CAUSES YOU TO SLOW DOWN, BUT IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU’RE TO STOP. BESIDES, YOU’VE TAKEN A FEW “HITS” BEFORE AND MANAGED TO SURVIVE, SO DON’T ALLOW INTENTIONAL THREATS TO CAUSE YOU TO “BREAKDOWN”. KEEP DRIVING AND STOP FOR NOTHING OR NO ONE, UNTIL YOU REACH YOUR DESTINATION!

Until next time my NOTE takers!

Discredited dreams

You’re excited! I mean, really, really excited and you want everyone to hear about it. You can barely contain yourself, because things are about to get “real”……..your dreams, that is. Until, you find out that what’s everything to you, is nothing more than a “fantasy” to someone else. In fact, they have a hard time believing “dreams do come true”, because they don’t have any. As a result of their unbelief, they will discredit your dreams, and consider them mere fairytales, because they know that rarely do they exist. Although you want them to share in your joy, they can’t find any. You see, those are your dreams and what you see for yourself, they don’t. So, don’t expect them to support your dreams when they can’t understand why you have them. In the words of my Therapist, “Giraffe’s can’t share their dreams with turtles, because they can’t see what you do”!

Remember, you have the ability to “see things far away”, and ever so often, you’ll find people trying to obstruct your view. Whatever you do, don’t let them “get in the way” of your dreams!

Fervent pursuit

What do you want out of life? Better yet, are you waiting for life to bring it to you? If so, what happens if you don’t get it? Do you continue to wait, or do you get up and go get it? There’s nothing I’ve ever been more passionate about, than writing. I eat, sleep and breathe words, stories, books and one day making it on the New York Times Bestseller list. Although I have one of the hardest jobs on the planet, it doesn’t stop me from doing it, or pursuing my dreams. If anything, it motivates and pushes me to do so much more, because I want so much more. In fact, I want more for this blog. I want to do more than write books. I want to be so much more than an Author and Writer, and I will be. You know why? Because I have a fervent pursuit of accomplishing my dreams. I have a burning desire to get what I want, and I’m not waiting on the world or anybody to give it to me.

A lot of people are sleeping on their dreams and not obtaining their goals, because they’re still waiting. On who or what, I’m not sure. However, I’m certain that, whether or not they want it and how bad they want it, will determine whether or not they get it. I would never chance placing my dreams, hopes and happiness in the hands of someone else, and expect them to give it to me. Besides, no one knows better than you what you want and need! Maybe you’re lazy, scared, fearful of failure/judgement or you believe you’ve got time, when all you’ve got time to do is GO FOR IT! Stop waiting on your mother, sister, friend or someone else to give you approval, because it’s not theirs to give or even worse, you may never get it. Whatever you want in life is yours, but if there’s no internal burn, the pursuit cease to exist.

Keep Dreaming

One of my favorite stories in the Bible, is found in Genesis 37. It’s the story of Joseph, the son of Jacob and Rachel. Before you run, I’m not going to preach a sermon, but I want you to understand the importance of “sharing your dreams”. Joseph was the youngest of 12 boys, and also the favorite of their father, Jacob. As you can imagine, the family dynamics was anything but great, and because of Jacob’s favoritism to Joseph, the brothers resented and despised their youngest brother.

Joseph would often share with his brothers his “dreams”, and how they (brothers) would come to bow down to him. Filled with rage and envy, the brothers conspired to kill him. However, the oldest brother Rueben, although filled with hate and envy, didn’t want to see Joseph killed. Instead, he opted to sell him to Ishmaelite traders and concocted a story (to which the father believed), about how Joseph was slaughtered by a wild animal, and there was nothing they could do to save him.

Obviously distraught, their father Jacob, was inconsolable and mourned the “death” of his son for a very long time. A’las, the brothers could breath a sigh of relief, because “The Dreamer”, as they commonly referred him to, was gone. Lo and behold, one day as the brothers were out working, they saw a figure in the distance, one that was all too familiar. It was their “deceased” brother Joseph, walking in royalty to meet them.

Of course, this astounded them, because they thought they’d never see him again. See, when they sold him to the Ishmaelite traders, he ended up working for Potiphar, a palace official to Pharaoh. Even though his circumstances were harsh and unwarranted, he managed to come out on top. Why? Because, although his brothers were jealous and envious of him, he never stopped believing in his dreams.

Hopefully, you’re like me, and have many dreams and aspirations. Often times, we’re so excited about our visions and dreams, that we want to share them….with everyone. However, sometimes, that’s not the best choice to make. A lot of people are not assertive or don’t have any faith in themselves, let alone think they are capable of accomplishing anything. Therefore, they’ll try to “kill your dreams”, because they resent the fact that you see things that they don’t.

To them, your dreams maybe too big or simply overshadow theirs, but nonetheless, keep dreaming until they become a reality….YOUR reality! My dreams are not going to look like yours, and neither yours mine, but I’m not going to get in the way of them. Don’t stop dreaming, because someone else is afraid of your “possibilities”. If anything, protect your dreams and visions, but most of all, protect yourself from those who don’t BELIEVE in your dreams!

Until next time Note takers!
