Bad influence

If you want to give up, great! However, don’t get in the way of someone who’s trying to finish. People will quit on themselves, give up their goals, forget their dreams, and expect you to do the same. Somehow, they feel their lack of ambition is supposed to take away the initiative you’ve chosen to take, to pursue your dreams. Continue to run the course and show them what would’ve happened, had they done the same. Don’t allow anyone to steal your zeal! When you are affronted with someone who tries to influence you to quit, because they “need the company”, then you need to walk away. Besides, misery doesn’t care who joins it, as long as it’s not alone!

Not as bad as it seems

Are things really hard for you, or do you just give up to easily? At some point in our lives, we’ve all encountered some obstacles that we thought would surely “take us out”. While many chose to take those situations head on, a lot of people simply gave up. Trying was not an option and apparently neither was winning, so they did what any other timid person would do, quit! The most difficult thing to process, is that they somehow already determined the outcome, although they failed to start. This is the very reason why so many people haven’t been successful in life. Before they attempt to do anything, they quickly talk themselves out of it. “I can’t do this”. “That is too difficult to do”. “Man, that looks hard, so I’m not even going to try”. All of these overused excuses have to stop! We all have a lens in which we see through, so clean yours and you will see that things aren’t as bad as they seem, and if they are, it’s only because you made them out to be!

Give it time

We’re only five days into the new year, and you already want to quit. You haven’t give your situation any time to grow, because you felt like you did that last year. All of the confetti, streamers and bullhorns that welcomed you on January 01, have been silenced by shouts of doubt. You went from laying claims on 2020, to laying down your dreams and goals. You thought that once the clock struck midnight, things would instantly change, but Cinderella already wrote that story. Although things have not been as instantaneous as you anticipated, doesn’t mean you have nothing to look forward to. Anything can happen, but you’ve got to give it time to!

Until next time my NOTE takers!

Just so you’ll know

Anything is possible………………………………………………………..even if it doesn’t look like it

Just because you see dark clouds…………………………..doesn’t mean you should expect rain

People will purposely turn you away…………………………..not knowing it’s in the right direction

Those you love will try to hold you back……………………….but you’ve got to be brave and just let go

I can’t tell you that tough times won’t come……………………………….but I can say they won’t always last

It doesn’t matter who finishes first………………………………………………………………as long as you cross the line

It may take years before you see progress………………………………………………but it only takes a minute to start

If your dreams have yet to come true……………………………………..it’s only because you’re still sleeping on them

Until next time my NOTE takers!

Breathe! You’re going to make it!

Ever felt like you couldn’t breathe, no matter how much you gasped for air? You probably felt like a fish out of water, suffocated or caged almost, because the pressures of life was just too overwhelming. You’re tired, exasperated and struggling to survive and keep up. Debt is steadily accruing, bills seem to come more than they need to, and you have more problems than you do money, to solve them.

You’re up to your eyeballs in frustration, because you don’t know if things will get better or take a turn for the worse. By now, you’re probably spiraling out of control and feel as if you’re losing it. The life you was once in control of, is now driving you. At this point, you start to question whether or not you’ve made the right life choices. Not satisfied with your decisions, you become pessimistic and hard on yourself.

Sadly, this causes the waves of defeat to rage even more. This is it! You now have feelings that your life is over, well before it even started. With no hope to grab onto, you slowly begin to slip under. Everything turns to darkness, and you’ve settled on the idea that things just aren’t going to get any better. At the point of no return, suddenly, you hear a voice from the rafters of the shallow water, and you fight to come up for air.

Tired, exhausted and unsure how much longer you can continue to take the dangerous currents, you keep on swimming. Alas, you’ve reached the top, and you smile, because you know your help has arrived! Struggling to stay afloat, you see a familiar face in the distance, but you can’t make it out. Your vision is blurred, because the thrashing from the waves has irritated your eyes.

Immediately, the silhouette you see is now clearer than ever! With His hands outstretched, you’re pulled from the raging waters and back into His arms of safety. Now that you’ve been pulled from the rafters, it’s time to start making some changes…..and positive ones at that! Establish your purpose and know your “Why”, because that is going to keep you motivated and help you stay focused amidst life’s many trials and tribulations.

Prioritize, get organized and become a better manager of your finances. The unexpected will happen and raining days will come, but so will “the Son”. No matter how difficult your circumstances become, don’t ever feel it’s easier to “tap out” from life. You’re going to continue to experience some highs and lows (some of us more lows than others), but don’t ever stop swimming, because when He speaks, even the waters (problems) “be still”.

You can now take off your life jacket. B.R.E.A.T.H.E. You’re going to make it!

Until next my Note takers!

NO WHITE FLAGS!

“It’s okay to fall down sometimes, just don’t stay there”! ~Deetra La’Rue

People are so quick to throw in the “white towel”, because it’s so much easier to just quit.  However, what they fail to realize is, the moment they give up, they forfeit their hopes and dreams.  Hope nowadays, seem to be the very thing a lot of people don’t have.  As I mentioned in my book, “Let’s TALK”, so many people are okay with falling down and remaining there, because it’s too much of a hassle for them to get back up again.

Rather than use their strength to get up, they lie there, because they feel as though their situation isn’t going to get any better….which is something they don’t want to face anyway.  Every body has had their fair share of failures, and will probably expect more throughout the course of their lifetime. We all know it doesn’t matter how many times you fall down, as long as you get back up.  For some, getting back up is almost instant and adds fuel to their fire, which gives them the drive they need to succeed.

For others, falling down just confirms the idea that they aren’t meant to succeed, so what’s the use in trying, right? #Wrong! Our mind wants us to believe that when we aren’t experiencing the success that we envisioned so quickly, we need to “wave our white flags”, because we’ll never achieve our goals.  That’s the problem, too many of us are still waiting on the microwave to go off at any moment now, because it’s much quicker than allowing our hard work to bake, while we sit through and enjoy the process.

That’s it! Nobody wants to endure the process, they only want the results.  But, how can you honestly appreciate and enjoy your success, if you didn’t do anything to get it? If anything, it should make your success that much sweeter to have, because you know of all the hard work, sweat (stress, yes that too) and tears you put behind it.  Nobody ever said it would be easy, but rest assured, it’ll be worth it in the end!

So, resist the urge to “throw in the towel” and “wave the white flag”! Success is hard work, and again, it doesn’t equate to how much money you have, so stop beating yourself up about it! Remember, “It’s okay to fall down sometimes, just don’t stay there”!

You’re not late, you’re right on time!

You’re never too old to fulfill your dreams!

Good Morning my “note” takers! I pray you all are doing well! On Saturday, December 08, 2018, I celebrated the release of my new book, “Let’s TALK” and my new business venture, CH1 Bookstore, Coffee shop and Lounge (coming 2019)! Despite the nasty rain and extremely cold weather, four of my friends decided to still come out and help me celebrate such a joyous occasion for me. I’ve always known I wanted to be a business owner, but I didn’t have the proper resources (still probably don’t), knowledge and drive.

I’ll admit, I was incredibly lazy, and wanted everyone to do all the legwork for me…even running it! However, because of my controlling ways and OCD, I couldn’t allow “my baby” to be held in the arms of just anyone.  So, I did plenty of research (am still researching) and decided I was going to make this happen! I prayed, and prayed and prayed, and asked God to provide me with the guidance that I needed to successfully run a business, only IF it was His plans!

After receiving confirmation, I began to think of what I would call my business.  After wrestling with so many names, I finally settled on “Chapters”, but that was not His intention.  Instead, while driving home from dinner one Sunday afternoon, I looked over to the car to my left, and the license plate read, “1CH“.  Immediately, I heard God say to me, “Chapter 1, because it is the start of many more blessings to come“.  I was so overjoyed and overwhelmed by emotions, and I couldn’t process what I heard.

I knew then, that I had confirmation from God, and with Him on my side, there’s no way I could fail! Besides, I reminded myself of the scripture Jeremiah 29:11, which states of God’s plan for my life.  Even equipped with all of that, I’m still nervous, because I don’t know the first thing about running a business. However, I’ll do whatever it takes to commit myself to my business and making sure it’s successful.

A lot of times in life, we often talk ourselves out of our accomplishments, because we feel we waited too late or are too old to do anything.  However, you’re not late, you’re right on time! Don’t allow others achieving their goals to stop you from achieving yours, simply because they did it at an early age, and you’re just now getting started.  Everyone has their own journey and go at their own pace, so don’t feel as though you have to keep up with anyone, for fear of falling behind.

I am 34-years-old, and am just now setting out to accomplish things I’ve always wanted to do since I was a child.  I used to have the same thoughts and feelings of everyone getting ahead of me, which caused me to lose focus.  If anything, it only made me feel bad, because I felt as though they were succeeding and I was doing anything but.  After a lot of soul searching and self-talk, I convinced myself that I can do anything I want to do and be anything I want to be…no matter how old I am! So can you!
