Forever and always

I never thought I’d see the day my dreams would become a reality, but I made it happen, all because I didn’t give up. I knew what I wanted and I knew it’d take me some time to get there, but I didn’t let the length of the journey to deter me from reaching my destiny. Sometimes, we can be so overwhelmed by the “what ifs”, that we often toss around the idea of “what if” I never achieve my goals. But,“what if” you do? Don’t stop now, you’re too close to finishing! It’s been said that nothing lasts forever, and things don’t always happen, but understand this. It may take you forever to reach your goals, but it doesn’t matter, as long as you always try!

Until next time my NOTE takers!

Waiting to Launch

You have an idea. I mean a really good one, but you’re afraid others won’t think so. However, the most disturbing thing, is that you don’t believe it either. That’s why you’ve been sitting on those same dreams and revisiting those forever goals, which is somehow taking you forever to complete. I don’t know whether to attribute your failure to launch to laziness, no motivation or lack of drive, but at some point, you’ve got to just start. I wrote a new book almost 3 months ago (Words are weapons too! Understanding the power of words), and have been debating whether or not I was going to put it on Amazon or just distribute it myself, as I have done in the past. Due to my busy schedule, I failed to do either, but it’s only because I “didn’t have the time”. I used my job as the reason why I didn’t do what I should’ve done. Do you see how easy it is to make excuses?

Rather than do what I needed to do, I defended why I “couldn’t” do it. Am I you? Are you still “defending” your reason for not stepping out and doing something great? Or, do you still think it’s not that great? Regardless of what you’re thinking, why are you waiting to launch?

Until next time my NOTE takers!

Keep on going

Have you ever wanted to give up and quit, because you couldn’t see the end of the road?

But instead you continued to keep on going, while bearing the weight of your heavy load

You want it to be over, but you’ve barely gotten started

So just be patient and watch how things unfold

Rome wasn’t built in a day and success doesn’t happen overnight

Although you want to throw in the towel, keep on going and continue to fight

Quit comparing your journey to someone else’s, because what’s theirs wasn’t intended for you

They may have taken the elevator to get to the top, but the stairs were reserved just for you

Keep on going no matter the circumstances and climb higher than a mountain’s peak

Don’t give up or stop for nothing, until you acquire all that you set out to seek

Remember, it doesn’t matter how you get there or who gets to the finish line first, as long as you cross it!

Until next time my NOTE takers!

Traveling through impossible circumstances

“I’m tired, and I just can’t do this anymore”! Would you believe me if I told you, you can? Probably not, considering the fact that your circumstances has somehow convinced you that it’s the “end of the world”. However, I’m here to tell you that it’s not! I talk a lot about adversity, hardships and struggles, and it’s because I’ve been met with them more times than I’d care to acknowledge, and you’d like to read.

However, although my journey has been tough, one thing that I vowed never to do, was to stop traveling, regardless of how bad the circumstances are. Besides, if you give up, how will you ever know whether or not things will get better? Like me, you’ve been through plenty of hard situations, and are probably still entangled in some. Granted, they absorbed all of your energy and took a toll on you mentally, emotionally and physically, but you eventually got through them, right?

One of the things I appreciate most about “traveling through impossible circumstances”, is no matter how many obstacles I encounter, I know that if I see them as an opportunity for challenge and growth, instead of a roadblock, it increases my chances of actually overcoming them. Remember the age old expression, “Nothing is impossible, because the word alone say’s, “I’m possible”! So, stop throwing in the towel, because it’s the easiest thing you can do.

Until next time my NOTE takers!

Detours

If you encounter a roadblock, go around it…..If you run into a brick wall, climb over it…..If you come to a closed door, open it! There will be obstacles in your life, but there will be solutions as well! No matter what gets in your way, DON’T GIVE UP, because there’s always a way “around” something!

I remember being in church one Sunday morning, and the Pastor said, “Your problems have an expiration date and won’t last always”.  That resonated with me, because it was in that very moment that I realized, all that I was going through would be over with soon, but I just didn’t know how soon.  I had encountered a number of roadblocks, and didn’t know how I was going to go around them.  Credit card bills were piling up, I wasn’t making any money, I hadn’t “flown the nest” and quitting my job seemed like the easiest thing to do at that point. Besides, I no longer enjoyed what I was doing.

After graduating from college and eventually Post-secondary school, I began my quest to find a “career”.  Application after application, I was “denied”, “not qualified” or simply didn’t get a call back.  Although I was met with rejection, I continued to apply, even though I didn’t have any faith that I would be selected, let alone called for an interview, because I had more no’s than I did yeses.  Despite not ever hearing from anyone, I continued in my “pursuit of happiness”.  I’ll admit, after a while, my faith really started to waiver, because I felt as though God had forgotten about me, or was punishing me one.

Little did I know, I wasn’t being punished.  I was forced to take a slight detour, because the route I was on, wasn’t leading me anywhere, let alone to where God wanted me to be.  While on this detour, I drove down the “road to change”, traveled a little on “new attitude boulevard”, and managed to even cruise on “positive lane”, all the things I needed (and more) to get me around my roadblocks.  Realization had set in, and I knew that in order for me to walk straight into God’s will for me, I had to climb over a few walls, jump over some hurdles and open a lot of closed doors…..especially ones that people told me couldn’t be opened.

Suddenly, my problems didn’t overwhelm me anymore, because I knew God was bigger than them and would help me overcome them.  As I began to take more detours in life, I reached places that I never thought I would see, encountered people who helped me get through my problems and ultimately became a better person. My life started to change for the better and the problems I thought would last for eternity, had expired.  It was then I played back the words the Pastor had spoke of, “Your problems have an expiration date and won’t last forever”.  I can smile now, because I know he was right!

No matter how bad or difficult your situation is, it’s not going to be that way forever! It may seem like it’s taking an eternity for things to get better or you may feel as though God is not listening, although you are crying out to Him, but do know that He is! A lot of times we are waiting for God to do everything for us, but He’s waiting on us to just take the first step.  Get out of your comfort zone and move! Stop traveling roads that are familiar to you or simply bring you comfort.  It’s going to take you making a detour every once in awhile, in order for you to end up on the path God has chosen JUST for you!
