Are you still listening?

I was listening to Pandora, the radio station, and I realized the room had gone from Gospel to silent. When I looked up at the television, the words across the screen asked, “Are you still listening?” I often wonder if people are still listening to God. He used to be our first line of defense, the One we initially called on before we started calling on family and friends, the One we prayed and listened to first, before we started listening to famous spiritual figures/leaders, who we’ve somehow replaced Him with them. I’m guilty for sure, because it seemed everything I was going through, they had a sermon or message that applied to me. The next thing I know, I was reaching for the remote to get a word, instead of reaching for my Bible. I make no admission that all spiritual leaders/public figures are bad or you shouldn’t listen to them, because God is using them to get through to us. However, what I am saying is don’t tune God out. It pays to listen, so be careful who (or what) you lend your ear to!

  1. This is truth! Reminds me of a Sunday school song from many years ago, Oh be careful little ears what you hear, for the Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little ears what you hear.
