Healing from loss

I’m currently reading a book on Love, s*x, and lasting relationships according to God’s perspective, by Pastor Chip Ingram. I’m only four chapters in and it has been so insightful and helpful for me, especially since I long to have a marriage that is not only orchestrated by God but pleasing to Him. The Author is sure to give talks about the difference between “Hollywood’s formula for long-lasting relationships” and “God’s formula for long-lasting relationships,” in which there is a huge contrast between the two, with the former proven to be “a quick and poor Plan B, with the main focus on the physical rather than spiritual.” He continued and pointed out how he led a marriage conference of over 300 divorcee’s, whom he called “wounded travelers.” These hurt individuals were willing to travel hundreds of miles across the world because they had one thing in common; they were seeking healing from what they’d lost.

As I was note taking, I thought how wonderful it’d be if people came out in droves to meet God in the middle of their mess, hurt, and pain, and allow Him to heal them from it. You don’t have to travel far because He’s near to you. You don’t have to pay for healing because He paid for it with His life. You don’t need the “secret” to anything when He is the solution to everything. There are many things I’ve taken from the book but one of the biggest things I gathered, if you want to have lasting relationships, you must first have an everlasting relationship with God. It doesn’t have to be perfect; but it must exist. Remember, God can do exceedingly and abundantly above all we could think or imagine (Ephesians 3:20), so it’s quite natural healing is no fete for Him. No matter how “wounded” you are, God can heal you too. It’s not too big or hard for Him.
