A lot of our development takes place in the dark. Rather than shine the spotlight on us to highlight what He’s doing in our lives, God will often keep the curtain closed until He’s ready for the big reveal. Although others aren’t always privy to our journey or what takes place behind the scenes, let alone what God is doing in our lives, they somehow think they know what it took for us to get where we are, when they haven’t a clue. As they see the overflow of blessings coming to us one right after the other, they began to question the timeliness of it all. We’ll start to hear phrases like, “What took me 20 years to accomplish, you managed to do overnight.” “Wow, you sure move fast. It’s almost as if I looked up and suddenly you were at the top,” not realizing it took awhile to make it there. However, it doesn’t matter their perception, because what they see is the outcome and not the process. Nonetheless, success takes time, so trust the process.
