It can be a struggle sometimes, dealing with daily tasks or anything really. For the most part, I have a set schedule that I try to follow everyday, but I’m not always as productive as I’d like to be. I procrastinate (a lot) and occupy my mind and time with things I shouldn’t be doing, instead of focusing on what needs to be done. Although I love working from home, it has become a little too convenient for me. I’ve noticed that I tend to sleep in a little longer in the morning, because “It’s not like I have a 9-5 to wake up for and rush to”. Besides, all I’ve got to do is get up and walk into the next room. So, I just lay there, because “I can afford a few hours more of sleep”. In all honesty, I can’t even afford to nap! If I make one “lazy” move, my day is over and I’ll tell myself, “Don’t even worry about it. You can always do it tomorrow”. I’m pretty sure you know how this story ends. Tomorrow ends up the next day, then the day after that, then next week, then next month, then next year, until not at all. As I sat and looked around at so many incomplete books, I noticed the one thing that I’d allowed to go unfinished for far too long, me! I was so preoccupied and focused on so many other things, that I neglected the most important thing, myself! Then it dawned on me. How could I exert any time or effort into writing books, when I didn’t make any efforts to take care of myself?
Do you sometimes feel as though you’re stuck in a rut? Do you lack the motivation or drive to do even the simplest things? Perhaps you are mentally and physically exhausted and can’t seem to find your groove, because you’re in such a funk. Whichever the case, remember, our dreams don’t work unless we do! I know that your job is a huge priority, but taking care of yourself should be your #1 priority!
Until next time my NOTE takers!
Writefully yours,
Deetra La’Rue
